To optimize patient care and successful visits to the clinic we operate on an appointment only basis both for routine appointments and surgeries. Emergency cases and acute situations are seen as a priority and we strive to provide service in these situations as promptly as possible. In most emergency cases, we will ask you to leave your pet with us for several hours so we may provide the care your pet needs without disrupting the appointment schedule.
Day Admission Appointments
For your convenience, we also offer “day admission” appointments, in which you may bring your pet to the clinic in the morning and he/she will have medical services completed throughout the day. If you have made a day admission appointment, we request that you bring your pet in before 8:30 am. The time that it takes for us to complete services for a pet that has been dropped off will depend on the reason for the pet’s visit. We will call you as soon as your pet is ready so you may pick them up at their convenience. We will have a questionnaire for you to fill out detailing your pet’s medical history, and ask that you leave us a reliable method of contacting you during the day.
To promote the health of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations are current for day admission, boarding, and hospitalized patients. If you are unsure of your pet’s vaccination status please ask us to check or update records.
We require all pets to either be on leash or in a carrier when they come to Washington Heights Veterinary Clinic. This ensures the safety of all pets and their owners. If you do not have a leash or carrier, please let us know and we will let you borrow one to transport from your car into the clinic.
